Now that the world has gone ufc crazy the question remains, what happens to martial artists who don't conform to the new mixed blend craze.
First off lets look at what makes a martial art.All the way through history we see that arts are born out of necessity. The shaolin develop their gung fu to defend against encroaching bandits, the samurai perfect their arts of war in their role as enforcer/defender...and so it goes on.
Therefore I conclude that MMA is nothing new,it is rather the evolution of combatitive form ,to suit it's new environment. The MMA we see today is set to its new arena ,not a 12th century battlefield but rather a microcosm of that ...a cage ,a ring and hence the moves we previously saw on the battlefield had to be honed to suit a new environment .
MMA is not the death of traditional martial arts ,rather its the result of it's new environment and the evolution of combat.

the importance of a good demo reel XMA news
Taekwondo instructor Mike Moh (22) recieved a phone call from xma fouder Mike Chat ,telling him of the upcoming Jackie chan film ROB B HOOD.Jackie was looking for an extreme martial artist to shoot a fight scene with in Hong kong.Mike a member of ATA Xtreme was thrilled at the opportunity ,and did as Master Chat suggested ,he sent in his reel.A few weeks later he was elated when he recieved the phone call that he was chosen to appear ,and was flying off to Hong kong to appear with the master of martial cinema himself (Jackie Chan).
This serves as a lesson to all xma students out there ,get to wotk on your reel. This is often the first port of call for a casting director ,if your reel is impressive then it can work wonders .Who knows you too could be starring in a Jckie Chan movie.

BOXING NEWS Manny Paquiao vs sugar Shane Mosley
Floyd Mayweather is semi retired and Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KO’s) is widely accepted as the pound for pound best fighter in the world. Is cherry picking his recent opponents? His decision to fight Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KO’s) on May 7, 2011 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas hasnt helped.
Shane feels that he fcan exploit what he feels are weaknesses in Manny’s defense. He defeated Margarito in impressive fashion in 2009 and feels that he still has more than enough left in the tank to handle Pacquiao.
Pacquiao of course will be heavily favored in the May 7, 2011 showdown with Mosley, but he is not going to take him for granted.

UFC mma news
Vitor Belfort was on the receiving end of one of fantastic front kick ,probably one of the best seen in mixed martial arts, this past weekend at UFC 126 he stated that , UFC Middleweight Champ Anderson Silva, got lucky with the shot that sent him to the canvas:
"Look, that kind of kick is very hard to catch, it’s also hard to fit it too, but he did it. He can use this kick, but the way he did is pretty difficult to, but he did it. I believe you only get lucky if you train. He trained and got lucky. But I think it’s something that if he tried to do in ten fights he would only be succeeded once (laughs). He deserved it. I was doing fine on the fight, I was winning it, but I wasn’t lucky to fit that punch, I missed it, that punch on the ground was really powerful. If it hits him… But it didn’t and his kick hit me hard, it was his night, I can’t help it. Everything I promised to do, I did. I didn’t get the win, but it’s part of the sport. I’ll get my chance. We’ll work now so I get it the next time."
